hey everyone. this is erin. dave here has a new commenting system, so you should comment. i'm highly against people asking for comments, but since i'm asking for someone else, it doesn't seem as bad. dave will also kill me when he reads this and when he sees the lame-o dorky "names" i set for his comments, but i'll change it after he yells and we'll laugh and laugh. then he'll change his blogger password. wassup!

The Dave Roman press junket continues...next stop: Byron Allen!
Just posted on SILVER BULLET COMICS is an interview with me talking in depth about writing for JAX EPOCH. Not to sound even more self-imortant than this blog already is... but I think its one of the more interesting ones I've done. Tim O'shea caught on to a lot of the more thematic and personal elements of the QUICKEN FORBIDDEN series and asked really good questions! I actually had to think hard before answering! Let me know what you think because I usually don't go into such specific detail...

Awesome cartoonist and overall friend to humanity Jacob Chabot emailed to say that his hysterical "THE MIGHTY SKULLBOY ARMY" won the semifinals for Dark Horse Comics' Strip Search competition.
Just when you thought "There are too many monkeys are so overdone"--Jacob comes along and creates one of the cutest monkeys in comics EVER! And add an awesome toy robot (like the kid you get in china town), a kid with a skull for a head trying to take over the world via elementary school--and you have one of the funniest web comics around.

One of the coolest parts of having a table at a convention is sometimes you luck out and are located right next to someone really fun (which can help pass those slow hours when no customers stop by your booth!) The last 3 Comic-cons have turned out that way for us. 2 years ago we shared a space with Brett and Russ from K.O.Comix and look forward to meeting up with them at all the west coast shows we've gone to since. Last year we met British artist, Christopher Reeve who spent his first days in America standing next to me, John Green and Matt Hawkins selling his inventive graphic novel "Nothing's The Matter" and even joining us for our adventure to a San Diego 80's nightclub...way in the shady side of town!) At the end of last year's convention we all got together and had an awesome feast at the "SeaPort Village" gorging on deep dish Pizza, Chicken Fingers and Twister Fries (a delicacy I've still only seen there). This year our luck continued as the booth to the right of us was abandoned on the second day, which allowed me to spread out and put even more copies of my books and paintings out! But to the right of that were
Betsy Burke
and
Justin Fogle of BALLOON FARM

Both are really cool and sell awesome t-shirts and buttons
You should check them out! Now!
Also Justin has a cool CD of electronic music that sound sliek old 8-bit Nintendo so he knows what's up!
FRIEND ALLIGATOR: HOW TO MAKE STRAWBERRY MILK

We got to hang out a week after the convention for the 1-UP MEGAZINE release party at Meldown comics in LA. It was really neat cuz Raina Lee was there signing the new issue which is beautiful and filled with great articles about videogame culture. Ya got to see her "Typing of Dead" dreamcast backpack. Also the MiniBosses a punk band that covers videogame soundtracks like Castlevania 3, performed a live show in the parking lot of the store.

From the February 2003 Nick Mag readers survey:

What was your LEAST favorite article:
"All About Avril"
Why: Because you didn't ask the question I wanted to know--"What is up with the tie?"
